I was in Los Angeles two years ago and managed to snag an invite for a Russian Orthodox Easter (Pascha)* brunch -
We drank aquavit and ate pashka and kulich with tea from a samovar, and made these quite fantastic eggs by wrapping them in bits of vintage silk ties, then tying them up in rags and boiling. I don't have any better instructions than that (once wrapped the eggs were whisked away and returned to us after their soak), but un-wrapping them all was truly magical.
*Celebrated later in the month but the tie-dye trick is worth trying this weekend!
