I love alice waters, and recently ordered her latest cookbook, the Art of Simple Food. It's so great, and ties in with so many things I am hungry for right now, like the farmer's market, and finally the opportunity to grow some of my own vegetables again, and this other book that I'm also reading.

It also gave me cause to pull out her Chez Panisse Menu Cookbook, only to find tucked between the pages a menu from when we ate there eleven (!?!) years ago. It is still all relevant, full of things I'd love to eat, and gives a shout out to the farmers and foragers who made it happen while demonstrating a notable absence of foams et cetera (not that I haven't enjoyed a splash of foam from time to time...).
